As homeschoolers, when we came across the Bird Watching Academy subscription, it was a no-brainer. We knew it would add some enrichment to our nature studies. What we didn't expect, was that we would soon be plunged into many months of social distancing and limited activities. Keeping our bird count each month has been something that the whole family truly looks forward to every day. It has added so much in the way of simple joys, to an otherwise challenging year. We are so thankful for this program!

My 5 year old loves the activities on the sticker sheet and loves getting to put on stickers when she spots a new bird. We have made a vest for her to put her patches on, it is adorable and we love bird watching!

Male Wood Ducks are colorful birds that are famously found in wetland habitats. For decades, they have undergone mass harvesting, due to the demand for their delicious meat. These medium-sized ducks either forage on land or in bodies of water. Southern Wood Ducks do not migrate, but Wood Ducks from colder regions migrate south in order to protect themselves from the cold.
